During the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Night event in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, the much-anticipated lightweight bout will feature Beneil Dariush, presently ranked second in the division, facing off against Arman Tsarukyan, who holds the eighth position.
Dariush aims to bounce back after enduring his first loss in over five years. Following a knockout defeat to Alexander Hernandez in 2018, Dariush (22-5-1 MMA, 16-5-1 UFC) embarked on an impressive eight-fight winning streak, earning four post-fight bonuses and securing a victory against former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. However, his streak was halted in June at UFC 289 when former champion Charles Oliveira claimed a first-round TKO victory. Dariush remains one of the most successful figures in UFC lightweight history, boasting 16 wins in the division, which ranks third all-time in the promotion.
With a record of 20-3 MMA and 7-2 UFC, Tsarukyan secured consecutive victories against Joaquim Silva and Damir Ismagulov after a decision loss to Mateusz Gamrot in 2022. The Gamrot fight earned him a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus in his inaugural UFC main event. Before the loss to Gamrot, Tsarukyan boasted an impressive five-fight winning streak.
