UFC 270 arrives at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday, Jan. 22. Francis Ngannou will defend his heavyweight championship for the first fight against interim champion Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270. The bout sets two of the best strikers in the world against one other. As former training partners and outstanding fighters, this bout is sure to be exciting.

As a heavyweight in the UFC, Francis Ngannou is well-known for his strength and power. Ngannou was primarily predicted to defend his championship against Jon Jones after his victory over Stipe Miocic in March. A five-year deal Ngannou signed with the UFC in December 2017 will be over if he loses to Gane. He would become a restricted free agent, allowing him to deal with organizations other than the UFC after 90 days of exclusivity. If he keeps his title, the contract will be prolonged for more bouts.
Despite his fantastic success in recent years, one could argue that Ciryl Gane is still at the back of his former teammate coming into what is likely his most significant bout yet. However, having trained with the opponent at MMA Factory in Paris, it seems the Frenchman is undaunted by the thought of the meeting.
